Your words are more powerful than you realise

Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything. Pr 13:3. Your words contain more power than you realise. Your ability to inflict deep wounds in others or to build others up in just a few words is truly remarkable. We should take note, especially if we have a weakness in this area, and pray for God’s wisdom in everything we say. People must be so careful with their words, especially if alcohol is involved that can lower ones guard or sensitivity to a given situation. Your words are your life! People will know you firstly by what you do and secondly by what you say. Be wise and don’t undo your good works through hurtful words. Many people carry verbal wounds inflicted by others who aren’t even aware of the significant hurt their words have inflicted!
