God desires mercy and not sacrifice

Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” Mat 9,:13 Those who are self righteous can be judgemental as they see the worst in people compared to themselves. They will go without or suffer publicly to promote their own sense of self righteousness.  This is contrary to what God desires. God is looking for those who recognise they have faults and need a saviour. In their humility they look to others and reach out to those who maybe less fortunate. Mercy recognises we are all on different stages in our walk with God and reaches out to help others. Praise God today that in His mercy He gave us Jesus. Ask Him to help you to show greater mercy to those you meet everyday, regardless of who the are, or where they are on their spiritual journey.
