Forgiveness sets us free first

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice. Lk 23:34. Jesus prayed for the forgiveness of the soldiers who had nailed Him to the cross. This was one of the most powerful acts of forgiveness that Jesus revealed to us. He didn’t have to speak out what he had prayed quietly in His heart, but He did this for our benefit to know 2 things. Firstly that He did not harbour unforgiveness towards His executioners, the greatest of persecutors and secondly that as followers of Jesus we must also learn to forgive what many would call “unforgivable”. With God’s Help we can do this, He can help change our heart if we are willing to ask for God’s help. Praise God today that as we forgive others, we will be set free from carrying the pain others have caused us, so that we can live in the fullness that God has for us. Prayerchair.org
