Forgiveness is not optional

Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven! Mat18:21-22. Forgiveness is not optional. Jesus forgave us so that we could be reconciled to our Heavenly Father. So if Jesus could forgive all our past transgression,we too must be prepared to forgive others. Unforgiveness is like you drinking poison and hoping the offender will suffer. However you will suffer as you need to keep the offence alive to harbour your anger. You’ll go over and over it and never be free. Forgiveness sets you free from the pain offences have held over you. Don’t harbour unforgiveness that’ll give root to bitterness if not dealt with. Praise God today we’ve been forgiven and set free so that we too can love others with the love God has shown us,and forgive others just as we’ve been forgiven. Prayerchair.org
